Well, I've decided to resurrect this section to try and keep track of what country I'm in and what's going on in life. Stay tuned.

Antipodean Tour 05/06

Jan 10 2006

Well, I've just got back to Dad's place in Auckland after a brief interruption to my New Zealand opus in Sydney. Mark was, as usual, the most gobsmackingly generous host and it was fantastic seeing such lovely people again. We relived old karaoke sins and possibly amplified them a little - long time readers of my old blog may well remember this being a feature of my latter years in Sydney. Elliott was back at the same time as me, so hopefully we'll actually get round to meeting up in London this year.

New Years in Matarangi with Cath, Dave and a cast of dozen was great. We wandered around on the pitch black beach crashing into people at two in the morning - such stars I haven't seen in years. We actually were all astounded when we realised we could make out some of the constellations and that the Greeks weren't completely off their trolleys. Of the five couples there, one of the last not engaged or married got engaged that night as well, so congrats to Dan and Corrine and hope all goes well. Of course I got engaged to nobody, but the family dogs seemed to take a shine to me. Again, thanks to Cath and family for the exceeding generosity.

Well, got ten more days here, and I'm already feeling a bit upset to be leaving again so soon. I'll update the photo section when I get home, scan the dozens of sketchbook pages in (and pick the viewable ones) and try to get round to sending the postcards I said I would before I leave. Love to all.

conceptart.org - Prague 05

Oct 30 2005

I've been home a week now and the buzz of the last ca workshop is only just wearing off. They're always a kick in the arse, and always inspiring and great to meet new people, but this time was just different. The atmosphere was 10 times more relaxed than ever before, the barrier between instructors and attendees was virtually non-existent, and the feedback given was lengthy and detailed. But more than that, everyone had an amazing time and it's begun to feel like the world's greatest hundred-strong travelling party of artists. Well, come to think of it, it's probably the only one, so it'd have to be!

So once again, I've come back full of energy and determined to do the work to get where I wanna be. I've come back more into comics than I was before, thanks primarily to speaking with the amazing Aleksi, and full of more confidence about what I can achieve thanks primarily to the other two Frenchmen, HPX and Nox. And I've come back more happy with god damned everything thanks to my soon-to-be studio buddy Molly, all the people willing to stay out and party with us, and the staff and friends at the Golden Sickle. Thanks guys.

Fast Old Man Roaring Success

Oct 16 2005

Well, that was the best FOM ever. Fantastic crowd as usual, added to by a whole new crew of strangers, which was fantastic. Lovely to see the little family growing into something special. Though next time I might try to do a bit less work - opening, painting, closing, then helping clean up made for a very long night. Yeah, I loved it :P

Will post pictures as soon as my mates give them to me.

In further news, I'm off to Praha for a week as of Tuesday afternoon for the conceptart.org workshop and to continue the three-misfit trans-European tour. More no sleep, how novel..

Fast Old Man

Oct 15 2005

The big news right now is that the Fast Old Man has returned! After the last successful outing (so many god damned smiling faces) it's been a very very long wait, but nine months later, we're taking over another Secret London Location and the FOM crew will be bringing you a night of the finest drumandbreakbeatechnoelectrohousenasties. It's THIS SATURDAY, October 15th. Come, you won't regret it: www.fastoldman.com

As well as opening the night in room two, I'll be in the chill out room doing some digital painting to accompany the mysterious Bubble Man for a few hours at some stage. Should prove interesting to the types of people who like to stare at colourful things for hours on end at 4 in the morning..

Barcelona

Oct 9 2005

The second leg of Layil, Sairica and Dirty C's Coincidental Tour of Europe was completed in the young ladies' home town of Barcelona. Layil and I ended up at a dnb gig well outside the city which went off like a god damned rocket. The Sunday we spent painting a gigantic power plant from the perspective of an isolated beach full of naked gay men cruising for a piece of ass, which I will admit, puts emphasis on the entire concept of perspective.

Layil & Sairi Come to London

Oct 4 2005

Conceptart.org's one-woman satanic cheering squad Layil and her lovely friend Sairica came to London to drink with an assortment of odd men including myself over the weekend. Sadly the promised webcam action never came about and they behaved themselves on the sofa bed. Sorry chaps.
